Thank You, Qantas

tower-Auckland.jpgI’m about ready to go out for our regular Friday night dinner and walk but want to add a brief entry with one of the last pictures I took in New Zealand—compliments of Qantas Airlines.

It seems that Qantas was overbooked for the flight we were to take home on January 7, so they asked for volunteers to stay an extra day. The incentive? Hotel accomodations, of course, plus free taxi to and from the Crowne Plaza hotel in the middle of Auckland, three great meals, and $600 cash per person. Not a bad deal!

What made it particularly nice was the fact that when we arrived in Auckland from Australia two weeks earlier, we had rented a car and immediately drove south, for that was where we wanted to spend our time. Since we hadn’t seen Auckland earlier, this gave us a great chance to take a tour of the town and go up the Auckland tower, which was half a block from our hotel. This gave me a chance to get some additional photos, which I’ll share with the Q-and-A Club for illustrations of questions.

This particular shot was taken out of the window a few feet from our floor in the hallway as we were ready to see what the town offered.

Moral of the story? Never pass up a chance to earn $1,200 (for two) for one day’s worth of sight-seeing.
